First, you MUST get signed up for the Hawaii trip now. Jan. 10th is the deadline. We need large numbers participating. All marching members (Friday Night Band as well) should sign up.
Next, we need for you to look ahead at calendars and work out conflicts around our Symphonic Camp, after school rehearsals, and performances leading up to our annual evaluation (LGPE). Talk to coaches, sponsors, etc. early and work out the situations.
Then, we need to point out that this semester's grades are being calculated slightly differently than first semester. There are only four projects instead of 7, so each project counts as a higher percentage of the final grade. Several students got first semester grades lower than they should have due to skipping projects or only doing a portion of the required work. The projects for this semester require searching online for specific information and compiling a practice video over three months. YOU CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THE WEEK THE PROJECTS ARE DUE TO BEGIN!!!
Finally, we would LOVE to see participation in private lessons and small ensembles increase. Work out a way for your student to get weekly tutoring on their instrument and for them to get together with a couple of friends and learn some new music that they could perform during the Spring or on the XPLOSION! Show stage.
It's a New Year...let's make the most of it!
