This show is a TREMENDOUS amount of work and preparation. Hundreds of hours go into the music selection, planning of acts, staging and choreography, music memorization, and stage decoration/lighting. The band directors and staff do an amazing job of conceptualizing and detailing the show. This all happens at one of the busiest times of the school year for teachers...making it all the more amazing that we are able to put on such a production every Spring.
The true benefactors, however, are the students. They get to perform in a setting unlike any other band concert of the year. They get to showcase talents other than simply playing instruments, and they get an audience response that is more enthusiastic than any of our other performances. Many of them are a bit hesitant at first, but as they get into the show, they really open up and enjoy themselves. Audience members get a look at something very different than sitting in a formal concert. Students from our neighboring schools attend and go back begging their band directors to create such a show...but so far, ours is unique.
We want to continue this exciting and unique show...but we will need LOTS of support. We would love to expand the show with more props and effects...but they cost a lot of money. We will need someone to take over production of the DVDs...Mr. Gribble spent over 40 hours editing and producing them this year...for free. For next Spring, we will need someone to head up the advertising of the show...a performance of this caliber should fill the theater for at least 3 nights.
If you enjoyed the show this year, please help us make it bigger and better for next year. It can be a HUGE fundraiser for the band, but it will take some serious parent effort to make it happen!
