BAND CAMP IS COMING UP!
JULY 18TH - 22ND, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Hello Band Family!
One of the best weeks of the year is almost here! Please read on for some tips, things to remember, and pleas for help.
If your student has not been outside this summer getting used to physical activity in the heat, please encourage them to do so. Marching practice is a strenuous activity and it is so much more fun if the body is prepared! Mr. Sodders has been reminding the kids about this, but it would be great if they heard it from home as well.
Breakfast, sunscreen and hydration are critical to success at camp. Even if your student does not usually eat breakfast, it is important to do so during camp. Protein, carbs and hydration (water or sport drinks) are a marching student’s friend. Just as your car will not run without gas, those bodies won’t run without breakfast! We will have sunscreen for re-application at camp but please remind students to apply it at home before they leave. (We are always very grateful to accept sunscreen donations! Just have your student give it to any chaperone. Thanks!)
A delicious, wholesome, pre-packaged dinner is provided during camp (please see the menu at the end of this email). If you did not order band camp lunches, please send a lunch with your student. Seniors - you don’t need a lunch on Friday - we have plans for you!
Please come lend a hand! Band camp requires a lot of help from band parents. We need chaperones, lunch and dinner servers, E-Team help building props, and photographers. Any volunteer must submit a TYPED consent for background check (every year) as well as the FERPA form. Chaperone and photo team opportunities can be found and signed up for on CHARMS. If you are interested in E-Team, please email Kenny Elwood at popeeteam@gmail.com.
Please be on time to pick up your band student after camp (and moving into the season with practices, games, etc.). Two chaperones will stay after events for 30 minutes after the event has ended. After that, we will leave unless you have texted or called (678-592-2625) to say that you have an emergency and would like us to stay with your child until you arrive.
IMPORTANT MEDICAL INFORMATION - If your student requires (or may possibly require) medication while in the care of our chaperones (band camp, band practice, competitions, etc), you must fill out this application and return it ASAP. We cannot administer medications without this form on file.
Thanks so much for your time! We are looking forward to seeing your student and you during Band Camp 2022!
